i'm installing cmake on ubuntu (as OF-prerequisite), anyhow after
"./bootstrap"
following error came out

------------------------------------------------------------------
Error when bootstrapping CMake:
Cannot find appropriate Makefile processor on this system.
Please specify one using environment variable MAKE.
------------------------------------------------------------------

btw. as "...sudo apt-get install..." didn't work out with me, so I try the offline-wise, viz. use the "cmake-3.12.0.tar.gz" to install

thank you in advance if you know the reason

Philip

Quick questions:
  1. Which installation instructions are you following and which version are you trying to install?
  2. If you are following these instructions: https://www.openfoam.com/documentati...quirements.php - you need to run the following command before sudo apt-get install ...
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update

so that Ubuntu updates the package list.

Hello, Wyldckat,
thank you and wish you a nice day

1. you're right, I try now the "Installation From Source" in the "OF of '.com'(not '.org')" as in:
openfoam.com/download/install-source.php
openfoam.com/documentation/system-requirements.php

2. actually I did, i.e.
".....sudo apt-get update....."
".....sudo apt-get install......"
but didn't work out, so I go the "way of local viz. offline" install.........

"Readme" in "cmake-3.12.0.tar.gz" states:
________________________
you can build directly in the source tree::
$ ./bootstrap && make && sudo make install
________________________
namely no need to configure the envi variable...

so do you or does someone know what, where is wrong?

thanks in advance

Philip

(here again msg. after "./bootstrap" in Linux-Ubuntu during cmake-installation after unpacking)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Error when bootstrapping CMake:
Cannot find appropriate Makefile processor on this system.
Please specify one using environment variable MAKE.
