I'm having the same issue with OpenFoam-dev (.org version). This is the only post I can find on the whole Internet mentioning this error. I'll update if I solve it.

The cause was the environment $ParaView_VERSION that was empty.

The reason for this was that OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-dev/etc/config.sh/paraview tried to look for cmake in OpenFOAM/ThirdParty-dev/platforms/linux64Gcc/cmake-*, which doesn't exist, and it crashed before defining ParaView_VERSION. Actually, OpenFOAM/ThirdParty-dev/platforms/linux64Gcc doesn't even exist, only OpenFOAM/ThirdParty-dev/platforms/linux64GccDPInt32, but even that folder doesn't contain any cmake.

I just commented out the lines looking for cmake. The build started, crashed at some point, but I figured it was easier to use Paraview installed normally from the package manager instead.
