Transfer OpenFOAM

If I asked another user to archive OpenFOAM folder and unzip it on my machine, would it work? Or should I use another instruments (like Docker) to start their OpenFOAM setup on my PC?

Sorry for the late response - but yes there should be no issue with transferring compiled OpenFOAM and sources like that. However, I would tend to use tar instead of zip - should be a bit more efficient. Another alternative is rsync between machines.

These statements are under the assumption that the underlying architecture and OS version are the same or very close between the machines.

Must the second machine also have OF environment variables set or libraries available when compiling or dynamically-linked libraries available to executables at runtime? Does any OF executable use an OF environment variable at runtime (directly or indirectly through a script)?

It appears that OF statically links libraries by default (https://doc.cfd.direct/openfoam/user...g-applications).
