I am running OpenFOAM on Ubuntu 7.10.
First, since I completed the install, every time I start my terminal, it executes three commands and then gives me the command prompt. I am not at my machine right now, so I don't have the exact text that it shows. This is not a big problem, but I am wondering if it is normal. Second, when I run paraFoam, the display does not work correctly. The display area and toolbar buttons are transparent. Anyone have an idea of what would cause this? Thanks, Matt |

Matt,
Are you using one of the fancy desktop environments like compiz or beryl? paraFoam (paraview) doesn't seem to like it, or some-such, and applies transparency where it shouldn't. I would suggest disabling your 3d effects while you do post-processing or get used to the transparency. This is for paraview 2.6.x I don't know if the latest version has the same issues. Regards, Mike |

Mike,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am using Compiz. I will disable it this evening when I get home and see what happens. I will post the outcome. Matt |

Hi
I have had the same problems with Paraview, when I ran Ubuntu 7.10. I found out, that if I opened paraFoam in a terminal in Workspace 1 and moved the paraFoam window to any of the other workspaces, many of the problems disappeared. At least the toolbar buttons showed the correct icons. Best regards, Niels
