Hi Dragos,

i tried to install g++, but got errors

E:/var/cache/apttried to/archives/libc6-dev_2.6.1-1ubuntu10_i386.deb: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libanl.a', which is also in package glibc-devel

i typed "which g++"&"g++ -v" into termianal

fw407@fw407-laptop:~$ which g++
/usr/bin/g++
fw407@fw407-laptop:~$ g++ -v
Using built-in specs.
Target: i486-linux-gnu
Configured with: ../src/configure -v --enable-languages=c,c++,fortran,objc,obj-c++,treelang --prefix=/usr --enable-shared --with-system-zlib --libexecdir=/usr/lib --without-included-gettext --enable-threads=posix --enable-nls --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.1.3 --program-suffix=-4.1 --enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-clocale=gnu --enable-libstdcxx-debug --enable-mpfr --enable-checking=release i486-linux-gnu
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.1.3 20070929 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.2-16ubuntu2)

it seems that everything was all right except "--libexecdir=/usr/lib --without-included-gettext'

And there was one mroe thing which was very werid that after i installed g++, the folder of OpenFoam was automatically removed

All the best

i re-install ubuntu .first i install g++ ,after that i follow the steps on the website about the installation of openFoam, then everything is ok!

it seems i do not need a glibc-dev ,which conflicts with the g++ of the systems and cause the errors i post above.
