paraFoam = freeze
Now I have installed openFoam1.6 in several ways, with different Qt etc (including following the instructions in the readme file, installation of Qt 4.3.5 and building paraView from source).
No matter what I do I get the same result; when i run paraFoam ParaView opens and then the whole system freezes completely. No error messages. I can see the ParaView window including the cavity.OpenFoam-file in the pipeline browser but the computer is no longer responding to anything. Reboot is the only option. System: Hp Compaq nx7010, Ubuntu 9.10 Any ideas? |
I used blockMesh, icoFoam and then paraFoam. (Running the cavity tutorial.)
I built paraview from source using the command where the path of the qt is given. I then realized that paraview freeze even if I open it as a stand alone program (not using paraFoam). Finally i gave in and decided to run paraview on another computer and then use foamToVtk and simply open the vtk-file. I installed paraview on a windows computer (Vista), just to encounter the exact same problem. When I open paraview the computer freeze. Then I tried on a third computer (Win 7) and finally paraview runs. So now it almost works, except that my vtk-files seem to miss some properties... Why paraview freeze - still don't know. Maybe it requires a lot of memory!? |
By the way. I also tried with another Linux distribution (openSuse). No difference.

First of all, thanks a lot for trying to help out!!!
1) Yes. 2) Yes. I'd say about 2 hours. 3) I belive so:
I don't recognize the error message you mentioned. 4) Note that paraview freezes even without the cavity file. If I simply type paraview in the terminal it opens, I may see the user interface etc. and then everything freeze... |
I have same problem.Paraview freeze the computer(hp 6530b). From results of all methods i have tried,I think the problem is related to graphic card I use, the intel 4 series,if I remember correctly. Using the vesa driver intead of intel driver may fix the problem.
