Greetings Peter,

I just sent you a reply to the pm you sent me. As for this thread, what has changed since your post? By the message you sent me, I think you've reinstalled OpenFOAM-1.6. If so, what instructions did you follow this time and does it all work now?

Best regards,
Bruno

Dear Bruno

You are correct, that I reinstalled OpenFOAM-1.6 (running Ubuntu 9.04).
In doing so, I was suddenly not able to run blockMesh. From your mail you indicated that it had to do with privilliges and the sodu command in
Ubuntu 9.04. Your solution, which proved correct, was to execute:

sudo chown -R username:username \home\username\OpenFOAM

Dear all

The problem with critical error messages
after executing foamInstallationTest could
in my case (now for a 32 bit system) be
solved by setting

WM_ARCH_OPTION = 32

in the file OpenFOAM\OpenFOAM-1.6\etc\bashrc

(remember saving and resourcing)

Hello Peter,

Thanks for the post, because I had completely forgotten to fix that yesterday Now at the post #335 of the install cookbook for Ubuntu you now have the fixed versions, with the addition of multi-core detection, thus making OpenFOAM built as fast as many cores the machines have available

Best regards,
Bruno

PS: as you suggested yesterday, I've made a rough document of helpful threads for building OpenFOAM... see my signature
