Hi,
I have followed the OpenFOAM 2.1 rpm instructions for OpenSuSE 11.4 on the OpenFOAM download page (making allowance for my upgraded OpenSUSE installation, which is OpenSuSE 12.1). I have two problems: Possibly a minor one is that icoFoam -help complains about my installed openmpi shared library - which is upgraded to openmpi 1.4.3 in this version of SuSE. Possibly more major is that foamInstallationTest fails immediately when validating the OpenFOAM environment. This is because there is no 'ThirdParty' directory in /opt according to the script itself. Using the RPMs has installed FOAM, ParaView and Scotch in /opt and reading up it seems like ParaView should be in /opt/ThirdParty? Since I am in IT and not in Fluid Dynamics, this is a problem in the sense of 'challenge' but before I plough on and hopelessly break everything I thought I would ask for advice as it seems odd that the RPMs should install such that the test script won't work. So advice much appreciated! |

Greetings Roger and welcome to the forum!
Disregard foamInstallationTest on the RPM and DEB installations. That script is meant for building from source. The RPM and DEB packages are meant to work out-of-the-box and the standard test for these is: Code:
icoFoam -help Best regards, Bruno
