I know that Paraview is used for viewing a mesh once blockMesh creates one from the blockMeshDict file but seeing a grid and understand the relationship between the indices used to connect the vertices are two different things. Is there some easy way to visualize the indices without making crude drawings by hand in GIMP or some other image editor.

thanks

Hej,

I know that Nicolas also develops a GUI for blockMesh, called hexBlocker http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...a-release.html This is also an active git repository https://github.com/nicolasedh

Greetings to all!

@Roman: Many thanks for reminding me of HexBlocker!

I've taken the time to revamp the wiki page for blockMesh: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/BlockMesh - if you remember any more helpful features and hints about blockMesh, feel free to add it to that wiki page!

Best regards,
Bruno

PyFoamDisplayBlockMesh can display everything defined in blockMeshDict even when meshing fails due to some errors.

Dear all,

I am trying to visualize the vertex numbers/indices of a case.

Doing paraFoam -block in the case folder I get :

bash-4.1$ paraFoam -block
Created temporary 'wavemakerTank_teste.blockMesh'
fileName::stripInvalid() called for invalid fileName /home/user/Desktop/LinktoOpenFOAM/user-v1606+/run/tutorials/olaFlow/tutorials/wavemakerTank_teste/wavemakerTank_teste.blockMesh
For debug level (= 2) > 1 this is considered fatal

So there is some problem with paraFoam, I suppose.

Following Phicau's suggestion, I moved the folder to /home/user/ and the instruction is now working.
