Meshing a bent coronary (like pipe) with stenosis (narrowing)
4 Attachment(s)
Hi there :)
i am trying to simulate the flow in a coronary with narrowing (75% area stenosis)... Therefor i would like to create a mesh with blockMesh. I already have some results, but they are not satisfying :( The problem is, to get the curved and narrowed part generated without any inconstancies. I defined the points, for the middle of the bent part (45 degrees) and created arc - edges from the ending of the unbent cylinders to the middle plane, with calculated points for the arcs. The arc - points are points of a circle, lying in an angle of 22.5 degrees to the ending cylinder and the middle circle. As you could see on the pictures, one will get inconstancies with this method :( I hope this was not to complicating - maybe the pictures will show what i mean!!! Now the most important question: does anyone have an idea, how to solve this problem? Regards, Martin |
Hi Martin,
you can try to use splines instead of arcs. The bend will be modeled with 5 hex blocks instead of 10. Or have a try with discretizer... Martin |

dear Martin (nice Name ;)
if i already tried to mesh it with only 5 blocks - the result is to be seen below... I think i will need the middle circle, for getting the guaranty, that it is a circle cross section at each point of the line... |

I adapted the arc - interpolation coordinates a little bit - below you will see the result!!!
One problem is left: the inconstancies at the end of the curved part... Does anyone have an idea how to solve this? I will try a little bit with splineLines as edges - maybe results will get better..!? |
