Hello everybody!
I'm trying to import a mesh from salome to openfoam with ideasUnvToFoam utility.
However, I do the rotation and can not install zone for MRF or SRF solver.
I use Openfoam1.7.1
Where can I read about it? Or can someone tell me how to do it at all?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi David,
from you post it is not clear whether the conversion with ideasUnvToFoam utility does not work properly,
or if you do not know what to do to define the MRF zones?

1. ideasUnvToFoam
2. edit boundary to change patch for MRF zone
3. setSet -batch setBatch
4. setsToZones

Do you want to rotate the entire mesh, or do you want to have rotational parts and static parts?

If you want to rotate the entire mesh you don´t have to do special zones.

I did one SRF simulation. There my whole mesh rotated, and I just used the same mesh as before without any special zones.
In a few days I´m going to start a new simulation of a windturbine with rotating turbine and static mast. I´d be glad to hear from you if you do something similar!

Best regards Tobias

Hi,Tobias! I am recently use the SRF method to model the HAWT but cannot success. I use the OF2.2.2 ,SRFSimpleFoam solver and the mesh is made by Pointwise. I want to make all the mesh rotate with the blade wall static,Could you tell me how to do it ? What set I should do and the steps? Please give me a hand. Thank you so much.

Hi

When you have converted the mesh using ideasUnvToFoam you need to run

Code:
splitMeshRegions -makeCellZones -overwrite
(OF >= 2.2)

That will create the different regions named region0, region1 etc.

You can then use one of those cellZones inside the dictionaries.
