I am attempting to use the gmshToFoam utility for the first time and am getting an error. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. Here is what I did:

(1) Created a new case <gmsh> using FoamX.
(2) Found the file "CubeVer1.msh" that came with the OpenFOAM installation and verified that it could be read by Gmsh.
(3) Copied "CubeVer1.msh" to the root directory of my new <gmsh> case and also copied it to gmsh/constant/polymesh. I wasn't sure if the *.msh file needed to be in the /polymesh directory.
(4) Invoked the gmshToFoam utility from FoamX and from the command line.

Here is the error message I get:

Exec : gmshToFoam /home/tmolls/OpenFOAM/tmolls-1.3/run/test gmsh CubeVer1.msh
Date : Jan 12 2007
Time : 11:17:05
Host : cfd01
PID : 9442
Root : /home/tmolls/OpenFOAM/tmolls-1.3/run/test
Case : gmsh
Nprocs : 1

file: CubeVer1.msh at line 1.

From function void Istream::getBack(token& t)
in file db/IOstreams/IOstreams/Istream.C at line 44.

Can anybody help me out and let me know what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

I think it reads the file from the current directory. Is the file in there?

Thanks, your messae got me thinking. I found my problem. I needed to include the entire path to the *.msh file in the FoamX dialogue (i.e. the <meshfile> item value needs to include the entire path to the *.msh file). I assumed I just need the file name as long as the *.msh file was in the case directory. At least gmshToFoam reads the *.msh file but I get lots of warnings now and paraFoam crashes when I try to read the converted mesh. So now I have something else to work on.

Thanks

Have you found your error why paraFoam crashed? I converted my mesh in the same way and it crashes also. So maybe you can give me some hints why.

Thanks
