FoamToStar

Hi everybody,

i would like to convert foam data to Star CD data.
Using the foamToStar utility, i receive three files: .cel, .vrt and .bnd.
Actually, i don't need a .bnd file but a .inp file. I think i could easely write manually this .inp file which contains the boundary conditions but i also see that the structure of the .cel and .vrt files does not correspond to what i want. These files are really big and i can not modify them manually.

Which version of Star considers this converter?
How can i get the data structure that i want for .cel and .vrt files? (i'm not an expert of star tools)

Thank you in advance

Bastien

Actually my principal problem

Actually my principal problem concerns the .cel file.

foamToStar gives me a structure like:

18 13 4 2 1
18 14651 12508 12073 5052
19 13 4 2 1
19 14651 2293 12073 12508
20 13 4 2 1
20 12073 2293 2294 1227
21 13 4 2 1
21 12508 676 1310 5052

And i would like to have:

32 1519 12289 2439 2439 0 0 0 0 7 4
33 7527 8942 33 33 0 0 0 0 1 4
34 502 503 12 12 0 0 0 0 5 4
35 7527 11868 8942 8942 0 0 0 0 1 4
36 514 502 500 500 0 0 0 0 5 4
37 1868 1873 54 54 0 0 0 0 7

Any comment is welcome

It would seem you want the old

It would seem you want the old STAR-CD 3.x format, but OpenFOAM *does not* output this. It is very unlikely that it will ever output this old format, since there is not support for polyhedral cells. If you are using STAR-CD 4.x, it can read either format though.

I wrote a 'star-backport' script a few years ago to address this problem, but I haven't used for a long time, don't know what shape it is in, and don't really feel like providing support for it. But other than that, you can have a copy if you wish.

Sorry for reviving such an old topic, but I don't think it's worth opening a new one for this.

I am trying to use foamToStarMesh but my .bnd file retrieves all boundaries as patch, rather than naming them according to the boundary file in polyMesh directory...

Any ideas how to fix this?

Cheers,
Felipe
