I'm trying to get my feet wet in electrostatic simulation, and was able to run the basic charged wire example. To try and take it further, I made a torus in a cube using Blender and SwiftSnap, and am trying to run the simulation to see the distribution of the field between the two objects.

However, whenever I run the simulation, I only get a uniform cube (although blockMesh, snappyHexMesh, electrostaticFoam, and paraFoam seem to run with no errors). Based on the SwiftSnap pipe example, it seemed like I should make the box faces a mesh, and the taurus outside a seperate patch. Is there something else required to tell snappyHex to use the volume between the two patches?

Thanks,
Louis

After speaking with papna on #openfoam-irc, I was able to get the internal geometry to show up in paraFoam by increasing the blockMesh resolution. In blockMeshDict, I changed the following line:

hex (4 5 6 7 0 1 2 3) (2 2 2) simpleGrading (1 1 1)

to:

hex (4 5 6 7 0 1 2 3) (8 8 8) simpleGrading (1 1 1)

However, even though electrostaticFoam runs and solves rho and phi with no residuals, there is no volume data for rho or phi after timestep 0.
