Hey guys,

I have a simple domain of a cylinder (inlet, outlet, wall) and a sphere in the cylinder.

I have named each patch with 'solid' and 'endsolid' in the STL file and combined all of them into a single STL file.

I'm trying to generate a simple mesh here with this but running into a strange issue. When SHM runs, it puts all of the faces from every patch into the first patch that's in the STL file. It doesn't give any errors or warnings during execution. In fact, during runtime it says:

Code:
Adding patches for surface regions
----------------------------------

Patch Type                Region
----- ----                ------
geom.stl:

1     wall                inlet
2     wall                outlet
3     wall                sphere
4     wall                wall
correctly. I don't get what I'm doing wrong. It always seems I end up with this boundary file:
Code:
    defaultFaces
    {
        type            empty;
        inGroups        1(empty);
        nFaces          0;
        startFace       20604;
    }
    inlet
    {
        type            wall;
        inGroups        1(wall);
        nFaces          2772;
        startFace       20604;
    }
    outlet
    {
        type            wall;
        inGroups        1(wall);
        nFaces          0;
        startFace       23376;
    }
    sphere
    {
        type            wall;
        inGroups        1(wall);
        nFaces          0;
        startFace       23376;
    }
    wall
    {
        type            wall;
        inGroups        1(wall);
        nFaces          0;
        startFace       23376;
    }

I have attached my STL and this is the SHM dict:
Code:

It seems the uploader is not working, so I can't post the STL..

Figured it out!

Some file handling went wrong when I combined the STL files together with the different names. As a result the inlet patch contained a copy of every triangle in the geometry.

Fixed the geometry and everything is good now!
