Hi all,

I'm new in CFD, especially in OpenFOAM. In fact I'm beginning an internship (that will last 6 months) and my tutor wants me to learn how to use OpenFOAM (basics) for next Monday, working on the Ahmed body which is a standard case. That's why I wonder if anyone would have some mesh or geometry on this subject that could helped me.

Thanks,
Adrien.

So your tutor gave you less than a week to learn the basics of OpenFoam?
Either you have a very good background in CFD or they're dreaming.
The dimensions of the Ahmed body are widely available:

I'd suggest modelling it, turning into an STL file and then making you mesh from their using blockmesh and snappyhexmesh as per the simplefoam motorbike tutorial.

Good luck.

Yeah that's tough... But hopefully, there's quit good tutos online.

What would you suggest me to create a geometry then a mesh before importing it on OpenFOAM ?

geometry : Openscad / Blender,else ... ?
mesh : Gmsh / Salome / Gambit, else ... ?

(I need a free software)

Thanks !

To create the geometry use whatever CAD program you like providing it can save out STL files.
To mesh look at the motorbike tutorial and see how that creates the mesh from the STL and other settings.
Hint the basic mesh is done by blockMesh and then its refined to the STL by snappyhexmesh.
