Hi everybody,

I need advice on meshing software. Up to know I've been working with structured mesh generated using BlockMesh, but I would like to test unstructured mesh generated with any Opensource software.

The problem to be solved needs many variations of geometrical parameters, therefore I've written a C++ code that takes a couple of inputs, calculates whatever needs to be calculated (coordinates, interpolation points, etc) and then prints the BlockMeshDict file ready to be compiled.

I would like to do the same to generate an unstructured mesh, but I do not know which software could do this. Here is what I plan to do

- Modify the C++ file to write a text file in any format needed by softwareX
- Run a command of the form
$ softwareX generateMesh
- Run case and post process results

Is it clearly explained? I hope somebody can give me a couple of hints to do this

Regards,
Felipe

Hi,

please have a look at cfMesh (http://www.c-fields.com/technical-ar...ntation-cfmesh) and snappyHexMesh (https://sites.google.com/site/snappywiki/ and http://www.openfoam.org/docs/user/snappyHexMesh.php).

Both of them use simple text input files (meshDict for cfMesh and snappyHexMeshDict for snappyHexMesh) which can be created like your blockMeshDict file. The structure of the meshDict for cfMesh is somewhat simpler, cfMesh is creating pretty good meshes with minimal effort.

Hi,

thanks for the tips. First I'll try cfMesh.
