Meshing 3D wing (hydrofoil) fails

2 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I am trying to mesh a 3D wing (hydrofoil). It's a symmetry case. The wing has a total span of about 1m hence the stl file represents half the wing.

The ultimate objective is to get lift and drag values for different versions of the wing. I tried to adapt the motorBike case as I'll be using the same turbulence model.

Blockmesh seems work fine but for some reason I am not able to mesh the domain/wing properly using snappyHexMesh.

I want to create a mesh refined with distance from the wing surface and I need a refined region at and behind the wing tip as winglets are an option to improve the lift/drag ratio.

How can I create such a mesh using snappyHexMesh?

1. How can I get the wing into the domain?
2. How can I mesh with a refinement based on surface distance?
3. How can I create the refined region at and behind the wing tip to capture the wing tip fortices?

Klaus
