Order of vertices

Hello!

Section 5.3 of user manual shows a way to order the vertices while defining a block. Does this order have to be followed while defining the vertices in the blockMeshDict file? If it is so, then how do i define a block whose cross section is, saya a pentagon or concentric circle (for defining a hollow cylinder)?

Thanks,
Nikunj.

Hi,

the order of the vertices within your model is completely irrelevant.

Just split your model into blocks and list the vertices of the model in an order of your choice. But make sure that the topology of each block matches the picture on http://www.openfoam.org/docs/user/blockMesh.php . blockMesh will do the rest.

The hollow cylinder can be done using two half cylinders for example.
