2D foam mesh and internal points

Hello,

I have imported a 2D mesh from Fluent into OpenFoam and everything ran fine: the 2D mesh was transformed in a 3D mesh by extruding one cell in the 3rd direction.
My question is: in this case, are there any internal points? Are the points of the empty patches considered as internal points or not? Are all the points boundary points?

Thank you for your help

Virginie

Yup. They're all boundary points. Empty patches and all.

Hi guys,

I run blockMesh for cavity flow copied from OpenFOAM tutorials and checked generated points, faces and boundary files. I found that some of the faces in the faces file are not real faces, e.g., 4(21 462 463 22). Can you check please? Do you guys know the relations among neighbour, owner, points, faces, and boundary files? I know points file lists all points in the mesh, faces file contains all faces described by the points in points file, boundary file gives the type of boundaries and the number of faces and the number of the start face for each type in the faces file. How about owner and neighbour files? Thanks a lot.
