Default Star4ToFoam boundary problems.

Hi there,

I'm having a lot of problem trying to convert a StarCD mesh to OpenFoam. I've not figured out what is going on, but the issue is with the bnd file.
My mesh is an engine cylinder geometry, and as the StarCD bnd file is the problem, I'd like to convert the mesh without it.
My question is how can I patch the mesh latter on? I've tried the autoPatch, but it's quite a massive job because it's not an simple geometry.
Does anyone know of a graphical interface or any other ideas on how can I overcome this painful task?

Perhaps the surfaceToPatch utility might work for you.

BTW:
Does your mesh pass all checks in proSTAR?
How well does the conversion work if you use the *.ccm format?

thanks for replying.

I'm going to look in more details the surfaceToPatch utility, but I've manage to convert it correctly with ccm26ToFoam. So I think that I'm going to use it from now on.

A nice side-effect of using the ccm conversion is that proSTAR does some geometry checks when writing it and thus might actually result in a better starting point that the cel/vrt/bnd files.

You just need to aware that ccm26ToFoam doesn't really handle separate domains particularly well. If you have a mix of solids/fluids/porosities in your model, they'll each be in separate domains.
