Hi everybody, I have to do a cfd simulation with a .stl file, which must rotate from 0 to 180 degrees at discrete times. That's what I have to do:

stl file---->snappyHexMesh---->analisys

rotate stl-->snappyHexMesh---->analisys

How can I perform this operation?I have given a look to rotateMesh but I can't do what I want.

Please help me and thanks to all the members of this special forum!

Hi Fabrizio,

It's easy to rotate an OpenFOAM mesh using the utility transformPoints. I don't know of any tool for rotating an STL description, however.

Why not write a simple program yourself? It's only basic linear algebra, and the STL file format is extremely simple (see wikipedia for links and descriptions).

Hi Fabrizio,

we are using admesh for manipulating stl-files:

Usage is straightforward.

Maybe surfaceTransformPoints does what you want?
