[CAD formats] Mesh from 3D scan

Hello

I am doing my first steps in OpenFOAM-
I have a 3D-scan (xyz points) of a parshal flume.
what is the most efficient way to build a mesh for OpenFOAM?

vtkSurfaceReconstructionFilter is your friend

http://vtk.org/gitweb?p=VTK.git;a=bl...ructSurface.py is an example that reads reads point data (via vtkProgrammableSource) construct the surface (via vtkSurfaceReconstructionFilter) etc..

I think you can easily modify that VTK-Example to write an STL or OBJ from the surface and continue the common steps.
