hello,
I am relatively new to commercial CFD code.
I need to simulate the flow in a set of empty Kelvin cells. Something like :

http://tu-freiberg.de/fakult4/imfd/f.../index.en.html

What do you suggest to do for the grid? which software would you suggest for such a case taking into account the grid creation and the export process for OpenFoam? why?

thank you a lot for the suggestions and time

elvis will become famous soon enough
Hello,

looks to me you want to mesh those micro structures mentiond in your link? right?

http://www.opensourcecfd.com/confere...0b8b978b532798

http://www.opensourcecfd.com/confere...ceedings-day-1 =>search for "micromodels" presentation goes into the same direction =>You have to be logged in to download presentations.

you will find also some publication among "OpenFOAM workshop" presentation, but that server is down at the moment, so I can not link to them.

Do you have allready a geometric model (Cad Model) or do you need to create that from microscopy images?

Well yes, but that is the last step. First i would like to mesh a geometrical model of those, like a kelvin structure, that i have to build i guess starting from a CAD.
Up to now i think of using FreeCAD for the cad Model and Salome or Cubit(for internal knowHow). Then import everything in OpenFoam.
But i was asking for some help, since i do not have direct experience of any of these software and i will have to learn them almost completely by myself.
So a was looking for some help and suggestions since I start completely from scratch and i am a little scared for all the things i have to learn.
I was wondering if anybody knows of compatibility problems between these software. Or if anybody has easier software to suggest.

For the first simulation i plan to build a cad geometrical model then if everything goes well i may build a more "real" model from a tomography.

Do you have any specific or general suggestion?

thank you a lot for your time
