Which software to modify STL file and mesh
1 Attachment(s)
Hello Foamers!
I have to run some simulations in a water dam tunnel (see picture). I have it as a STL file, and I need to "explode" my geometry so I get a patch for inlet, outlet and the inner walls of the tunnel so that I can set boundary conditions on these patches. What is the easiest software to use to do this? I was thinking of selecting the points of interest "manually", by clicking with the mouse, since my geometry doesn't have an easy form. Then, I would somehow export the subregions into something Foam understands. Do anyone have some tutorials/examples I can base myself on? I was also thinking about using Salome or Gmsh, as these seems the one used by the community, but do you have any recommendation? Any help is appreciated! Thanks for reading ;-) E. |

Hey and thanks for your reply!
It seems like this is the functionality I am looking for! I just installed Salome, and I can't seem to import a stl surface into the software. Then I see that you talk about GEOMmodule, and I was wondering what that was. The thing to understand with my case, is that I never made this geometry because it is a model of a real tunnel taken with instruments, so my options to create patches for boundary conditions are limited to "manually" picking the area where the water is flowing. I have been looking around for a tools that allows me to do this, but haven't succeeded until now. |
