Hello!
I am trying to mesh the domain around this Umbrella structure [Attached are some screen-shots] I got a mix of Tet. and Hex. cells I wonder what parameters in snappyHexMesh control the shape of the cells (Hex. or Tet.) Can I get a Hex-only-mesh? Attached is a screen shot of a mesh of generated by snappyHexMesh (a domain around a human head). It consists of only Hex. cells [This screen shot is from the snappyHexMesh tutorial which I found on http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/SnappyHexMesh] How did they get this mesh? Thanks for your Help! |

Hi hfs,
SHM does actually create hex-cells only. They may have other than 6 faces, when deformed by the snapping or add-layers process! Make sure you have the "Use VTKPolyhedron" option activated in paraview/paraFoam. Then use "extractCellsByRegion"-filter. You will be able to see the actual cells then. See the attachements for screenshots. G Jan |
Thanks a lot for the quick reply! appreciate it.

Hello guys!
when I run checkMesh over the grid created by snappyHexMesh, it shows that the grid is actually a hybrid one consisting of hexahedra, tetrahedra and sometimes even polyhedra cells. so the question is if there is a way to control the ratio of these different type of cells. thanks |
