Creating an OpemFOAM mesh starting with an Arbitrary CAD file

Dear OpenFOAM Users,

I am new to OpenFOAM having spent years using ANSYS and CFX5. It seems that OpenFOAM is a very powerful analysis tool but I have been frustrated with incomplete information wherever I turn.

I would like know if anybody could point me in the direction of a complete set of idiot-proof instructions to set up an incompressible , external aerodynamics problem.

I have a car-like body in a rectangular domain. I have generated the STL files for the domain and the body separately.

I can also create a file with them together if needs be.

What I want to know is that if you have an arbitrary body or bodies, that is to say, multiple wall boundaries. How do you get from them to creating a workable 3D volume mesh using SnappyHexMesh and then on to a solution from simpleFoam or whatever solver is most appropriate.

I have been searching high and low on the internet and i have yet to find a set of complete clear instructions and this includes the OpenFoam website.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Saif
