[snappyHexMesh] Snappyhexmesh: Some parts of airfoil have a layer, others dont

Dear Openfoam users,

I am having a problem with snappyhexmesh. My mesh is almost as good as I want it to be, but I am experiencing a problem with the layer addition. I have attached a picture of the problem. I also have attached the snappyhexmeshdict file. Feel fry to comment on other things that are not good.

I have been playing around with featureAngle and nRelaxIter, but that did not give the desired result.

Hi,

Looking at your dict file I'd recommend, first of all:

- increasing the no. featureSnapIterations up to 20, say, just to be sure the process is complete
- increasing the featureAngle in your addLayer control up to 90 (this should ensure that as many cells are added as possible, within other constraints)

If that fails, then try:
- increasing maxFaceThicknessRatio and maxThicknessToMedialRatio
- reducing the relax and smooth iterations in addLayers to their original values
- reducing mesh quality settings, especially the minimum volume
