renumberMesh in openfoam

Hi
Does anyone know that the function renumberMesh would change the value of points and why? I run "renumberMesh -orderpoints" and found out that the value of points had been changed. I was so surprised about this.
Thanks
Yu

The renumberMesh is an utility to reduce the bandwidth by renumbering the cell list. OF orders the nodes in a sequential manner so that once renumbered, this will use much less memory and convergence is achieved relatively quickly. It is always a good practice to perform this task before processing your case. I think this should in no way affect your geometry and your mesh.
