Hello everyone.

To quickly mesh an impeller rotating in a stirred tank, I would like to use snappyHexMesh on top of a structure blockMesh which encompasses the AMI interface.

I Have already made the structured blockMesh that has the AMI patches and a rotating cylinder of fluid in the middle. Everything is fine.

However, when comes to time to use snappyHexMesh, if the point "inside" that I specify is within the rotor region, the entire stator region. It seems that snappyHexMesh only detects the region in which the locationInMesh point is in.

Do any of you know a work around to this issue? (namely keeping the two regions...)

Cheers,
Bruno

I think your problem is quite similar to mine in some points.
Now I am dealing with rotorDiskSource but I have obtained a valid wind turbine mesh with the blades meshed and so. You will need a cylinder STL geometry to define that all the cells inside that cylinder will be a new cellZone.

Inside surfaceRefinement:

rotating

{

level (1 2);

cellZone rotating;

faceZone rotating;

cellZoneInside insidePoint;

insidePoint (0 0.1 0.5);
