Mesh Conversion: OpenFoam (polyMesh format) to Calculix

Hello All,

Currently working on a Problem dealing with Fluid Sturcture Interaction using the both programms OpenFoam and Calculix. I have already done the CFD Simulation in Open Foam and the results have been stored in OpenFoam polymesh format. Now I would like to use these Results to perform the FEM-Simulation, but Calculix canīt read these results because the exported polymesh contains some elements, which are not available in Calculix(only Hexa8 elements are supported).

How do i go about converting the polymesh from Openfoam in a mesh format with only hexa8 elements? Is there a converter available for this case?

Best Regards

Thierry

You need to decompose the polyhedral cells into shapes your software can understand. Paraview converter/module has a similar problem, so you can find code snippets there.

Thx fo your help. I really appreciate it.
Actually I m not used to work with the Paraview Converter /Module. Could you please explain me how to go about finding the code snippets on that module, which could help me to decompose the Polyhedral cells?

Best Regards

Thierry
