Error analysis: "ended prematurely and may have crashed. exit code 22"

When I run snappyHexMesh I get error snappyHexMesh ended prematurely and may have crashed.exit code 22.Get same error in log.simpleFoam.Why does this happen

Greetings John,

Are you sure the error code isn't "42"?

Can you provide more details? Please follow the instructions given here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...-get-help.html

Furthermore, are you able to run the first tutorial on the OpenFOAM User Guide or do you get the same error message?

Best regards,
Bruno

Error 22

No getting error 22.Also when I open ParaView my model sits across not inline with wind tunnel and is not centred.

If you don't provide more details for diagnosing the problem, then it's not possible to help you.
The error code "22" is too generic and does not relate to any specific meaning.

Thanks for reply.I am trying to use motorBike tutorial to check body oF my racing car.Created shape in Rhino cad.Do I need to mesh before going into OP or will OP do that using blockmesh and snappyhexmesh. Also my object is small compaired to wind tunnel and is the wrong position and facing across not with flow.I am new to this but need sum pointers and will work out frm there.I do not have internet but send frm cellphone.Cannot transfer fileS into forum.Any help is welcome.

Quick answer:
  • The OpenFOAM User Guide is provided in your OpenFOAM installation. Run this command to find where it's located:
    Code:

    echo $WM_PROJECT_DIR/doc/Guides-a4/
  • A lot of details on how to use snappyHexMesh are provided here: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/SnappyHexMesh
  • Study the contents of the "Allrun" files that are present in the tutorial cases located in the folder "tutorials/mesh/snappyHexMesh".

Error

Thanks for reply.I am using OpenFOAM 15.06 on Windows. When I ran motorBike tutorial it gave same error. So fault is in snappyHexMesh.I cannot use OpenFOAM in Ubuntu as without internet which I do not have I cannot download updates online.

wyldckat August 23, 2015 13:24

Then that's beyond me. You are using a unofficial port of OpenFOAM for Windows, maintained by a company named CFDsupport, who didn't even bother giving their port a proper name, so that it wouldn't be confused with the official versions of OpenFOAM that are provided by the OpenFOAM Foundation.
Anyway, you will have to contact them and request them to fix your problem.

Error

Sorry did not know though all the same people.Anyhow how do I get my model in centre of wind tunnel in motorBike tutorial. Is it done in paraView or in one of the files. Thanks Again.

wyldckat August 23, 2015 16:03

Ah, right, sorry, forgot about that question.
You have 4 possibilities:
  1. surfaceTransformPoints is a utility in OpenFOAM that can translate and scale an STL file.
  2. Change the vertices in "blockMeshDict" and the "location in mesh" in "snappyHexMeshDict", i.e. change your tunnel location.
  3. Modify the location of the geometry in Rhino.
  4. Use the Transform filter in ParaView to change the location of the STL; then use the menu "File -> Save Data" and save to another STL file.

SnappyHexMesh

So u saying rather move tunnel than model.I am there now so alter vertices. It will not affect anything will it.I cannot mesh my model with either blockMesh or snappyHexMesh. Thanks
