Hi,
I am new to OpenFoam. I am trying to mesh my geometry using cfmesh. I am using only the mandatory settings for my MeshDict file. when i try to run cartesianMesh it gives the following error. I had a maxcellSize of 2

--> FOAM FATAL ERROR:
There are no cells in the mesh!
The reasons for this can be fwofold:
1. Inadequate mesh resolution.
2. You maxCellSize is a multiplier of the domain length. This can be reolved by reducing the maxCellSize by a fraction.i.e. 2.49999 instead of 2.5.

From function void cartesianMeshExtractor::createMesh()
in file cartesianMesh/cartesianMeshExtractor/cartesianMeshExtractor.C at line 108.

FOAM exiting

It works when I give maxcellSize of 4 or higher. I tried using local refinements to get fine mesh , but if i specify cellSize less than 4 in local refinements it gives the same error.
Can someone tell me where i am going wrong?

Hi,

The geometry is not closed. The mesher can handle coarse cells because the cells fill the holes. When you decrease the cell below 4 they become smaller than the holes, and the mesh leaks through those holes. You have to close the holes to be able to use smaller cell size.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. I found out the mistakes in my geometry. This geometry is a part of my whole geometry. I overlooked this. I should have checked this things earlier, my bad. Sorry for troubling.
