Hello all,
Hello, I am using chtMultiRegionSimpleFOAM together with snappyHexMesh. At the interface between the regions I have big patches which I would like to split down, so I could apply different boundary conditions. The createPatchDict - seems to fail, complains about it being an interfacial area. Despite having an option createPatch -region I am having a time of my life trying to figure out how to create regions in my STL files which are reasonably complex (exported from solidworks as ASCII format). Does anyone have any suggestions how to create the stls with regions? or how to use createPatch and mappedWall together? Thanks for your suggestions |

Hi, i think it can helps you if you have a look at these tutorials
http://holzmann-cfd.de/index.php/en/tutorials-en to obtain multi regions with SHM. If you export your geometry into stl from solidworks, you could face very big problems with SHM. I suggest to use Salome to generate good quality stl files. Take a moment and look to these video series, there are some useful tricks that will surely help you with SHM & salome. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CZvUD3nXKa4 About setting different bc at the interfaces, it's better if you give some more details about. Hi,
In the meantime, I have found solution which has worked for me. I have firstly created he snappyHexMesh, then deleted the faceZones it created (left the cellZones as it is). Then described my own faceZones using topoSet. However, the tutorials you pointed me to are brilliant, they show an alternative and a better, more universal approach. Tobi has done a great job with those videos! |

Hi
I find a interesting way to get multi regions with SolidWorks: You can choose a face to export as STL, and then this face becomes one region. and choose other faces, they will be other region too. |

How do you choose individual faces? Whenever I try it always grabs the entire part/object.
