GMSH: Meshing a cylinder with a HUGE number of points

Hi folks,

I need to mesh a cylinder with a VERY FINE mesh.

Point(1) = {0,0,0,0.01};
Point(2) = {0.012,0,0,0.001};
Point(3) = {0,0.012,0,0.001};
Point(4) = {-0.012,0,0,0.001};
Point(5) = {0,-0.012,0,0.001};

Circle(1) = {2,1,3};
Circle(2) = {3,1,4};
Circle(3) = {4,1,5};
Circle(4) = {5,1,2};

Line Loop(5) = {1,2,3,4};
Plane Surface(6) = {5};

Extrude {0,0,0.040} {
Surface{6};
}

Unfortunately, that doesn't work at all. After I have created a 2D-meshing, the 3D-meshing gets stuck, probably because there are really too many points.
Is there a way to surmount this problem?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

1. What Gmsh version do you use? 3.0.1 generates mesh quite easily, and the mesh is not so fine. Also what mesh generators are in your settings?
2. Do you really want coarser mesh near point 1 or it is just typo?
