SnappyHexMesh procedure and informations

hi all, I would like to ask for information on the mesh procedure with SnappyHexMesh.
Is it correct to apply the following "three (or more times) mesh procedure" to prevent the introduction of the layers from failing?
Step 1: castellated mesh true (snap false, add layers false) and increase the number of cells until it is deemed to be sufficiently resolved.
2nd Step: snap true (castellated mesh true, add layer false). You perform the snapping procedure and compare the mesh obtained with the .stl and repeat the mesh procedure until the check mesh is OK.
3rd Step: add the layers true (castellated true, snap true).

Kindly you could also explain to me what the following options are referring to:

- SlipFeatureAngle
--SurfaceNormalsSmoothing Iterations
--InteriorMeshSmoothingIterations
--MaxFaceThicknessRatio
--MaxThicknessToMedialRatio
--Grown

thanks in advance for the time spent reading this message and for any answers
