Hi, I tried the windAroundBuildings tutorial for my building geometry, but this is what I got from the result of snappyHexMesh. The buildings have relatively simple geometry but still are not properly snapped. I'm so confused at where did it go wrong.

I attached my case file below. Please help me configure what should I change/improve on my snappyHexMeshDict to get a properly snapped mesh based on my geometry. Thank you!

Okay, so I figured out one of the problems - it's that surfaceFeatures won't capture the edges of my buildings right. I have tried playing with the dictionary, but it just won't budge. The geometry is closed and seemed fine. (attached screenshot below)

Hi,

If I am correct, you are using OpenFOAM-dev ? Which functions did you add/modify since your first post in the snapping phase ?

Cheers,

Hi John, I am actually using OpenFOAM-7 (I know that my case dictionaries say it's the dev version). And no, I did not change the snappyHexMeshDict at all since I found out that the problem was that the surfaceFeatures function won't extract the right edges, so I want to get it right first before I dig into sHMD. Sadly I got nothing.

Hi,

I guess you had increasing the includedAngle to 180 to see if it catched the features or not.
Well if you got nothing, you have to check if your cad file (stl) has been well meshed.

I saw you are using .dxf file, I found a old but maybe helpful thread to convert dxf to stl.
.dxf to .stl converter

Cheers,
