Dear Altruist,

I am a new user of OpenFOAM.com. I have installed OpenFOAM in windows subsystem for Linux. I am working on a CFD simulation of flows around 2D airfoil. I am using k-epsilon turbulent model. First I have done this in Ansys 2021 R2 Version. I am want to do this in OpenFoam. I have heard that OpenFOAM can read ansys mesh. Now I want to know, how can I do this? What kind of file I have to create? Should I create constant, controldict folder? Actually I have watched some video which tells me I have to save the ansys mesh in ASCII format. But what should I do then?
Kindly help me with this.
Thanks in advance.

Where you able to solve the problem?

I would like to go from .msh file to .vtk. I am unsure about to use mshToFoam, FluentToFoam or Fluent3DMeshToFoam.

I have run the command but it failed, apparently I need some files such as the ControlFict, fvSchemes, fvSolution in the subfolder system and probably I also need something in the constant subfolder.

I am also new to OpenFoam and basically I am pretty lost and as usual cannot rely on other help that the altruism of Forum people.

Thanks

Your .msh file from fluent will have to be ASCII format, then if it's imported from windows, do:

dos2unix <insert .msh file name here>
FluentMeshToFoam <insert .msh file name here>

this should create a paramesh directory so you do not need to use the blockMesh utility. Suggest to copy a tutorial file in $FOAM_TUTORIALS to set up a new case.
