How do I get cfMesh running again? (not cfmesh+ / pro)

I have been using cfMesh and netgen/salome in OFv1712, but my system crashed. I am trying to reinstall everything with a more recent os, OF, and cfmesh. Using:
Ubuntu 24 with OF foundation 11 and 12, as well as OF v2401 and 2412 installed and working. cfMesh will not install.

cfMesh appears to no longer come with the ESI versions. The only instructions for the process on for ESI refer to older verersions. There are several requests on their forum regarding cfMesh being omitted from recent releases.

I can not find much about how to get this working on posts after ~2020. Is cfMesh supported, used much? The source downloaded from source forge does not install into the 4 versions I have, noted above.

Any guides on how to use cfMesh in a recent foam version and recent OS?
Thanks

Hey!

I have the same complaint as you, and I have been using (on windows at least) a separate cfMesh package found here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/cfmesh/files/v1.1.1/

You should be able to run the usual cfMesh commands.

Thank you Alczem, your comments pointing to the version 1.1.1 appears to work!

Windows: the .exe runs in my windows 10 installation. It appears to install a minimalist installation of Openfoam 2.3, and a linux like shell environment. I can navigate to my work directories and was able to get cartesionmesh to create a mesh from one of my older simulations.

Linux, similarly, the .run linux file appears to install a minimal installation of openfoam 2.3 and set up the bash environment. I could run a past cfmesh based simulation and make a mesh.

For anyone struggling like me in the future, This approach to using cfMesh is not what I expected from past experience and reading the limited info on this:
-first, I assumed that installing the latest versions of ESI's foam distribution would have it built in, as before (v17..). They do not.
-then, I assumed that the code provided on sourceforge would install CF mesh to work with existing, installed versions of foam. It does not (as far as I can tell).

I will figure out how to get this working with my automated workflows, and it would have to be something like activating the OF2.3 workspace made by cfMesh, making a mesh with cfMesh, deactivate and activate the OF environment where I need to use recent features, and continue with the simulation.
