Vinc,
I am just starting with gidPro, trying to mesh turbine runners. What do you do to get your surface geometry into gridPro? I have tried the iges2gp and get errors. I have also tried converting patran and nastran surface meshes, but that just gives me a mesh, and I do not know how to fix surface topology to it. -Bryan |
Hi Bryan,
You should use stl files to import into GridPro. But we should keep this topic for the converter. I will be pleased to reply to your GridPro related questions by email (vincent.rivola@rtech-engineering.com) or by PM as you want. Regards, Vincent |
Hi there,
I am trying to use the options in gridpro2foam to create facesets for runtime data extraction. However, for this to work I hoped that the face numbering would be identical when gridpro2foam is used with or without the --solid option. When having more than one 2-sided surface in gridpro it doesn't seem to work. This is the face numbering when not using the --solid option 4 ( Volute { type Volute; nFaces 8250; startFace 315159; } Inflow { type Inflow; nFaces 2880; startFace 323409; } Pipe { type Pipe; nFaces 2592; startFace 326289; } Outflow { type Outflow; nFaces 504; startFace 328881; } ) and this is when using --solid 3 (BC 3 and 5 are 2-sided surfaces in gridpro) 6 ( Volute { type Volute; nFaces 8250; startFace 314655; } Inflow { type Inflow; nFaces 2880; startFace 322905; } Flange { type Flange; nFaces 504; startFace 325785; } Pipe { type Pipe; nFaces 2592; startFace 326289; } Outflow { type Outflow; nFaces 504; startFace 328881; } Flange-bis { type Flange-bis; nFaces 504; startFace 329385; } Can someone explain to me why the face numbering is not identical for at least the first two patches? Furthermore, I get the following output: ... Not processing BC -1 Processing BC 1 Processing BC 2 Processing BC 3 Processing BC 4 Processing BC 5 Processing BC 6 Processing BC 5003 ... The last BC seems a bit odd to me as the connectivity file only includes 6 BCs numbered from 1-6. Regards, Per |

Dear Stefan,
The last version of GridPro2Foam is 5.12. I am going to upload it to our server and will put the link here in a moment. |
Here it is:

Problems converting mesh with periodic boundaries
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I have some trouble doing a proper conversion of a very simple periodic mesh. The problem is that one of the periodic boundaries is moved during the conversion. Looking through the code it seems that the periodic angle is hardcoded - is this intentional? If I change the period in Gridpro to match the hardcoded angle the mesh looks fine but I rarely have a period matching this :-) Code:
double periodicAngle = 360/11.; |
