Ansys meshes
Hi
Is it possible to read in ansys meshes easily? thanks allan |

Currently, there is no Ansys converter because I could not get hold of the detailed mesh file format information. Also, if I remember correctly, there were some issues with defining boundary patches. However, writing a new one is pretty easy, based on the existing converters and mesh-from-cell-shapes stuff in polyMesh.
Overall, I would say it's about a day's work. Do you have all the info and how badly do you need this? Is there an option of going through some of the other mesh formats that are already supported? Hrv |

I can probably read the ansys mesh into star-cd and then use the utility starToFoam. It's just a bit of a problem as that ansys and star-cd are not really on the same site, and a bit of walking is required. Thanks allan |

I am quite prepared to write a converter but:
- I need all the data - it won't be done immediately - somebody needs to test it or give me examples + check them later because I haven't got any Ansys meshes If you need it urgently, then the game is different :-) Have fun, Hrv |

That would be great!

That would be great! Tell me what you need? I can provide simple grids to quite complex ones. allan |

Hi,
Here is a good link for documentation of the ANSYS cards. http://www.cesup.ufrgs.br/ansys/prog_55/g-int/INS3.htm For files generated from ANSYS with the command cdwrite you should clarify whether Blocked or Unblocked format is used. Joe |
