fluentMeshToFoam 2D mesh auto z direction extrusion

Hey guys,

Does anyone know how to control the amount fluentMeshToFoam extrudes the 2D mesh in the z-direction? I'm trying to use GGI and it's extruded my two parts by differing amounts...

Anyone out there....

I'm interested in this too and I still haven't find an answer.

I suppose we should look at the code ... but I'm working on a network and I can't modify such files so is there an other way to do this than modifying the code?

Thanks for the help

I think one way is to modify the file "Points" located in your case/constant/polyMesh directory and changing the third coodinates of the points to be the depth you want.

Yeah that's an option but one must know how deep each part of the mesh is before scaling it. Is there an easy way to find this out?

I import my meshes from Gambit so from the time being I am extruding in Gambit and then importing...

For me that's not a problem since my geometry is simple :)

Just a question : you're talking about 'extruding' in gambit... Is there a way to really extrude a 2D geometry into a 3D automatically in gambit?
This would save me much time...

Thanks for the help!

Yea just go to the geometry menu and under the faces submenu the option should be there to extrude...

I just looked at gambit and under faces submenu I just have the option : MOVE/COPY/ALIGN but this is not really an extrusion. Is this this option you are referring to?

Thanks

Sorry I just checked and it's actually the 'sweep faces' option in the volume submenu. I can't figure out how to define how many cells I prefer in the third direction though...
