How can I learn using blockMesh

Hello, I am a beginner and I want to learn Openfoam blockMesh. I do not have any experience and I must learn it as soon as possbile since I am working on a project. I saw tutorials from openfoam web page but I do not find them useful. Could you give me suggestions? How can I learn it by myself?

Hi Gokhan,

There is no quick and easy way. Try to understand the principle behind the blockMesh utility.

My advice: Start with reading article 2.1.1.1. from the OpenFOAM manual.
http://openfoam.com/docs/user/cavity.php#x5-110002.1.2

Here the most simple blockMesh shape is used -> 1 cube (so 1 block in OpenFOAM terminology). In this article http://openfoam.com/docs/user/blockM...25-1430005.3.1 the full blockMeshDict is explained. So they tell you which sub dictionaries are needed to succesfully run the blockMesh utility.

If you have any specific questions after reading the articles, please let me know!

Good luck!

Hi Gokhan,

Rik_Tonnaer is right, you should begin by the tutorial on the web page. also it is very important to understand how blockMesh works by applying very simple geometries first, cube, cylider, airfoil ... it is pretty easy and provides very interesting meshes. good luck
