Thanks four your reply @pgh
I completly removed the installation and tried again. Unfortunatly no succes still. I have checked that hardware-virtualisation is enabled. I'm running Windows 7. I have VirtualBox 4.3.28 already installed with a running Ubuntu system which is switched of (safed) during installation process of OF4Windows. I'm running the exe an installing everything on my Windows partition. When i install Boot2Docker i already get a short error message that "shell.exe could'nt be started" or so. After the installation is completed i restarted my system and clicked on "OF_Env_Create" icon on desktop with run as Admin. The openend shell closes after few seconds. Not shure if there is any error report. When i click on the "Boot2Docker Start" icon a shell opens and closes immediatly with one line of code which i can not read so fast unfortunatly. I then click on the "Openfoam Start" icon, a shell opens and gives me the attached error message of "error in run: Failed to get machine "boot2docker-vm": machine does not exist (Did u run 'boot2dokcer init'? and "FATA [0000] Error: failed to start one or more containers" and "Are you trying to connect to a TLS-enabeld daemon without TLS?" Idk know what all that means, the shell closes after this. I then try to run the "boot2docker init" command in a cmd-shell from the "boot2docker" installation folder. It gives me the error report "error in run: Error generating new SSH Key into C:users\... exec: "ssh-keygen": executable file not found in %PATH%" (see attached error message 2). From your suggestions: 1. When i click on "boot2docker start" shortcut the shell opens and closes quickly. Cannot type command "docker images" unfortunatly. When i try i) to iii) i get the following error message: "FATA [0000]: A adress was used which is not compatible with the requested protocol.. Are you trying to connect to a TLS-enabled daemon without TLS?" (see attachment #3). So i am not sure where the problem lies... |

This will get you going with a virtual box pretty quick, you can have OF installed within a few hours. http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/se...ads/index.html http://askubuntu.com/questions/14254...-on-virtualbox PM me if you get stuck and we'll work it out. Cheers! K |

Thank you guys for your suggestions! Really appreciated. I kinda like the advantages of using OF in Windows. When i'm using a VM i need to do a lot of file transferations from Windows into the VM and vice versa., i would be more convenient to just do all the work on one platform. I'm not doing CFD professionally, just for fun, so fun can get lost easily when doing repetitive stuff again and again..
I will try to contact someone on the mentioned mail adress, maybe someone can help me there. Thanks again and cheers! |

Dear All,
I tried with the OpenFOAM 3.0+ on windows. But not success. I installed docker, VM box and followed the instructions which had given in the instructions PDF file. When I am trying to open the application, it is suddenly disappearing. Some how I installed using following link: http://www.cfdsupport.com/openfoam-for-windows.html It requires Cygwin bash terminal. It is inbuilt in the application it self. Installation is very easy. It installs GNUPLOT also. Regards Prasant K |

Hi Zandi
OpenFOAM for windows provided by OpenCFD Ltd uses same code as that of Linux . It provide a complete development environment . It use docker which in Windows uses a light weight virtual box of few MB to run OpenFOAM . Advantage of using docker is that same executable can be used to run on different platforms i.e Linux, MAC and windows. |

Check instruction in readme File . You can try to trouble shoot with following
click boot2docker shortcut in your desktop and type "docker images " and "docker ps -a' in terminal If it throw some error . it mean some problem with installation .You can write to docker@opencfd.co.uk. However If it does not throw any error and print some information i.e image id , image name etc .Then you can go inside the installation folder i.e "C:\Pro.....\ESI \OpenFOAM\windows\scripts" via same terminal.(boot2docker terminal) and run this command "docker load -i of_v30_plus.tar" (see the exact name of tar file in folder which has scripts in it too) . Once this step completes ,you can close the terminal and then click on shortcut OF_Create_env to set and create container . After it you can click on other shortcut OF_Start to start working on container. If problem continues, send your queries to docker@opencfd.co.uk. Some one will get back to you. |

I'm also having no luck in installing. If I run the "boot2docker start" shortcut it flashes up a window and closes it before I can see whats going on. Tried reinstalling several times per the video mentioned in this thread. Any more pointers to make this work?

I'm still have the problem of getting "Error in run: Failed to start machine "boot2docker-vm" : exit status 1" after uninstall and reinstall OpenFOAM in Windows 7 for many times. (pls see image attached)
The following post didn't seem to help, either: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...m-windows.html May I ask you advice on how to solve this frustrating problem? Thank you very much! |

Hi ..
First check whether your hardware virtualizaion is switched on . Also which version of Windows are you using . Installer would work with Windows7 and 8. See below . and also check FAQ on this link http://openfoam.com/download/install-windows.php --------------- Pre-requisites: --------------- 1) Hardware assisted virtualization should be enabled. If not already done, please enable it from the BIOS mode(see below), then reboot your system twice before proceeding with this Installation. In Windows7, check if hardware-assisted Virtualization is switched on by running the Windows utility https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...d=592#filelist In Windows8, it can be checked via the Task Manager. |
