OpenFOAM version compatibility

It looks like Helyx-OS only works with OpenFOAM v 2.4 -- Is that still correct? I just want to be sure before I download and install that version.

chegdan September 12, 2016 12:47

This is correct, the currently released version works for OpenFOAM 2.4.0.

HELYX-OS V2.4.0 has been released

ENGYS announces the release of HELYX-OS v2.4.0, an open-source graphical user interface (GUI) designed to work natively with both OpenFOAM v4.1 and OpenFOAM v1606+. HELYX-OS provides both new and experienced users with a fast and efficient interface to access the CFD utilities and solvers available in the OpenFOAM library.

http://engys.com/products/helyxosv24...600&height=338

The new release of HELYX-OS v2.4.0 is packed with several improvements and new features with respect to the previous version, including:
  • Support for dynamic mesh solvers for both prescribed and 6DOF motion capabilities.
  • New potential flow initialisation method for pressure and velocity fields.
  • New turbulence models available in OpenFOAM.
  • Added relaxed section to meshQualityControls for the mesh component to improve layer addition when using snappyHexMesh.
  • New moving wall velocity boundary condition for dynamic grids.
  • New option to run OpenFOAM v1606+ via Docker.

The new version of HELYX-OS has also been extended to provide direct access to the HELYX-OS Cloud connection powered by Parallel.Works. This is a subscription based service to enable users to run OpenFOAM in the cloud right from the HELYX-OS GUI environment. ENGYS will be introducing this type of cloud-based computing services across their entire range of open-source based CFD software products.

Visit the HELYX-OS Github project page to download the newest release. For more information, check out all HELYX and HELYX-OS related news releases at engys.com/news .

Grayed "run" button Helyx-OS

Hi Chegdan

Thank you for your support with Helyx-OS, i find it great :D I am actually calculating heat transfer in a double facade and after the Helyx-OS GUI suddenly froze, i tried to kill the process and start Helyx-OS again. Unfortunatly after restart, i experienced the same problem as JR22. Did you find a solution? This problem occured several times by other calculations.

Thanks a lot for your answer!

To truly stop something, you are better off killing than using control-C. I will see what the developers say and see what the plans are for SIGINT handling.

Also, thanks for the feedback we're glad you find it in good shape. Keep trying to break it and let me know if you do!

Thanks for your work on this software. I wonder whether there will be a release for openfoam 5? thanks.

I am having a hard time to find HELYX OS Documentation. Especially some tutorials and use cases. Is there a link I could find that information at.

Also the ParaVIEW is showing an error - Could not find valid openfoam mesh. What would that mean?

Hi,

Is Helyx-OS compatible with OpenFoam V18 or 19?
This GUI seems very interesting.

Thank you for your answer.

FM.

Quick answer: It should be compatible. I don't remember any major changes that would stop Helyx-OS from working as intended.

Connecting HELYX to OpenFOAM and ParaView

Hey guys,

I'm completely new in CFD.
I need to simulate a stream of liquid inside a cylinder, so I want to set a first simple case using Salome and HELYX. After I got in know with the case setting, I want to get more complex. But step by step.

I created a stl-file in Salome and installed Helyx OS together with OpenFOAM 4.x and ParaView 5.4.1 on Ubuntu (via Oracle VM on Windows). But connecting OpenFOAM and ParaView hasn't worked yet.
Could someone please tell me, if it's possible to use HELYX-OS together with OpenFOAM 4.x an ParaView 5.4.1?

Thank you!
Franco
