Vehicle aerodynamic study preprocessor

Hi,

I am just releasing a web-portal to enable application specific CFD analysis pre-processing and/or cloud based analysis. It can be used to generate a complete openFoam case setup based on geometry (STL or SketchUp format), speed and yaw angle.

It is a freemium model:

- openFoam case generation is free. You upload the geometry and nominate the parameters. We do a bit of geometry cleaning and preparation, set up the openFoam case and send you an email with the openFoam setup files (no CFD simulation done). You can then run the simulation locally using openFoam. Note: swak4Foam is required; or
- you request that we run the CFD analysis for you (and we do some post-processing as well) for a nominal fee. Once the analysis is complete, you get an email with a link to download the CFD results in openFoam, as well as a few other post-processing format, and a link to a web page to view results.

The site URL is: https://cfdcloudengine.appspot.com/

Feedback would be very much appreciated.

Greetings Julien,

Is there any information on how much time do you need to perform calculations?
Offering CFD 'on demand' sounds very promising, and I would definitely use it.. do you have any case studies or available references?

In particular, I need a study of flow around a civil engineering block.

Regards,
Minev

Hi Minev,

Thanks for the message.

Turn-around time for the simulation is around 7 to 11 hours depending on calculator/how many simulation are in the queue and if the backend is fully operational (there are still downtime). You can check the backend status on the front webpage (just under the image).

I do not currently have case studies, but I ran two cases from AIJ http://www.aij.or.jp/jpn/publish/cfdguide/index_e.htm. The results are presented in http://www.slideshare.net/JuliendeCh...presentation-a. The presentation did have links to allow you to view the results through the portal, but these were removed in slideshare. I will post them here shortly.

You can register for 3 free trial simulations at https://cfdapps.appspot.com/registerfortrial.html to get a feel for it and whether it is suitable for your purposes. Remember, if you happen to use an incorrect geometry (scale, orientation, etc), send me an email with an amended geometry and I will restart the analysis.

Let me know how you go and if you need any assistance.
