Hi all,
I want to see 2D grid cells of a case but 3D cells are always shown in the paraview as attachment although I have selected out empty-faces.

To complement Anton's answer:
  1. If using the slice, make sure that you turned on the VTKPolyhedron option, when using OpenFOAM's plug-in for ParaView.
  2. In case slicing of the polyhedral mesh doesn't work as expected (if triangles show up where they don't actually exist), use the filter "Extract Cells by Region" and turn on the parallel view mode: http://paraview.org/Wiki/ParaView/Di...#View_Settings

Hi,thanks both Anton and Bruno,
@Bruno: I missed to say about I used slice with excess triangles as you mentioned, but I can't find VTKpolyhedron option and Extract cells by Region doesn't have any effect.

Hi Ehsan,

I've written in some detail about this some 18 months ago, with images as well : http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post372605 post #6

Best regards,
Bruno

dear Bruno,I didn't grasp how to use the second introduction:
Quote:

because the link can't open for hours, don't know why.I'll be thankful if explain a little more the steps have to be done. if I use "Extract Cells by Region" there is no need to slide filter,is there?

Sorry about that. I completely forgot at what time today some of the services on paraview.org are down for maintenance for a few hours.

"Extract Cells by Region" is a filter similar to the "Slice" and "Clip" filters, but instead of giving a slide-like view of the mesh, it actually gives us the cells within that region. But the detail is that the polyhedral cells cannot be decomposed, otherwise this filter will show the cells in decomposed form, mostly as tetrahedral cells.

As for the "Parallel" option:
  1. As shown in the first 2 attached images, click in any of the positions where the mouse cursor is shown in each image. Both will open the "View settings" window.
  2. In the 3rd image the mouse cursor is showing where the parallel option can be turned on.

dear Bruno, there was no need to filters, parallel projection solved the problem.thanks.
