Hi All,

I'm not so familiar with interDyMFoam so I need some help with some basic problems.

I'm just trying the 2D bubble rising problem.

So I know interDyMFoam uses VOF to capture the fluid interface, but I don't know how to show that in ParaView. All I can do now is to show 'alpha', which gives me a not-so-sharp interface. What I need is the exact shape and position of the bubble.

Please tell me what else should I set in order to get the interface position. Thanks!

Best,

Hi,

what you observe is a side effect of the VOF funtion in OpenFOAM and there is not much we can do about it, as it is not reconstructed each time step but only tracked and diffusion plays an important role.

To obtain free surface location in paraview we apply the contour/clip filter for an iso-value of alpha, usually 0.5

Best,

Pablo

Pablo,
Thanks for your reply!
I did the contour plot in paraview and tt seems that in my case the value of alpha inside the bubble has a very large range. I don't know if it's just the case. But when I see other people's results on youtube they looks not that bad.

Best,
