antoniop is on a distinguished road
I would like to know if Paraview gives the possibility to plot streamlines on a 3D surface.

For instance, I use a STL file as triangular 3D surface grid where to plot contours of a scalar. I adopt a HDMF file to load the data I need, as below:

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<!DOCTYPE Xdmf SYSTEM "Xdmf.dtd" []>
<Xdmf xmlns:xi="http://www.w3.org/2003/XInclude" Version="2.2">
<Information Name="MetaData" Value="ID-23454"/>
<Domain>
<Grid Name="STL Grid" GridType="Uniform">
<Topology TopologyType="Triangle" Dimensions="86394">
<DataItem Dimensions="86394 3" NumberType="Int" Precision="4" Format="HDF">
Eppler387_2chords_angle10.h5sp:/conn
</DataItem>
</Topology>
<Geometry GeometryType="XYZ">
<DataItem Dimensions="43199 3" NumberType="Float" Precision="4" Format="HDF">
Eppler387_2chords_angle10.h5sp:/vert
</DataItem>
</Geometry>
<Attribute Name="cf" AttributeType="Scalar" Center="Node">
<DataItem Dimensions="43199" NumberType="Float" Precision="4" Format="HDF">
cf_ibd0001.vno.h5sp:/var
</DataItem>
</Attribute>
</Grid>
</Domain>
</Xdmf>

Can I load on the same grid a vector and then use it to generate streamlines over the 3D surface?

Thanks
Antonio
