Hi there,
I realized that when creating an animation, I have to maintain paraView in the foreground, otherwise any windows in front of it will be captured to the frames beeing saved. I have found that there seems to be a batch mode, but, honestly, did not understand how to do that. I would like to create some animations which take a long time, cant have paraFoam in the foreground all the time - maybe someone has a quick solution ? Thank you ! |

I just tried to create an animation from some data and all the time I had the paraview window halv coverd by an xterm.
Still you can see there is no problem in the produced animation: I remember having similar problems using OpenDX with hardware rendering... but I don't know if that will help you too much. Dragos |

I had a similar problem. My solution (I use gnome with multiple workspaces) was to start the animation on one workspace and continue working on other workspaces. Then the Hardware rendering seems to work OK (but your milage may vary and you may get no pictures at all)

just in case someone else has the problem:
I now start OpenFOAM, let the animation start, kill it, and restart, this time paraview, using the paraview trace file generated before as input. This works fine. Just a stupid workaround, maybe there is a better solution - but helps |

Hi, Thomas,
What is a paraview trace file? Is it generated automatically by paraFoam? Pei |

I think it is the file generated by paraview with a .pvs extension when it is killed by the user.
